Matt and I went ring shopping the previous week and picked out or rings, but Matt locked them up in his closet. No peeking..! So we decided to go out to eat. Tropical Storm came through Hampton Roads area and almost dampened our plans.. Praying and hoping that this would be the night Matt proposed. Matt picked me up and he had his jacket tucked under his jacket and I wondered while peaking out the front door.. Matt came to the door and kissed me and said that his jacket was good for something else too.. he handed me a dozen red roses the first flowers I’ve gotten from a man and it was from the man of my dreams. I was so excited…!  Mom placed them in a vase and Matt and I were out the door. We went to Carrabba’s Italian restaurant. I kept looking through my food to see if Matt had placed my ring in my food to surprise me .. NO ring.. sniff.. So with a  fabulous meal and great company we decided to go to his apartment to watch a movie.. I took my rain jacket off and I turned around Matt went to his closet, coming back he said, “You know what would make this night even better honey,”? I said, “No”! I turned around and Matt was on his knee.. He said, "Mandy you have made me the happiest man for the past five months would you make me even more happier and becoming my wife for the next 60-100 years”? I looked at him and without letting him finished I said,” Of course”!  I felt for the first time in my life what it means to have someone love you so passionately and completely.. I got down on my knees and thank God that night that I was just blessed with the proposal of the most amazing man.

It was April 1st 2006 and I was planning on meeting Matt at the Siam 21 in Norfolk for our first date.  I had a feeling that this was going to be something different I just knew it.  Matt was running late from getting out of Mass just down the street. When Matt arrived at the scène of our first date Matt greeted me with big hand shake.  A tickle in my belly came over me... I was waiting for that tingle, my first impression of Matt was one of hmmm he’s might nice looking.:) So I decided that we would go down to Rajput’s an Indian restaurant in the same shopping center.. We ate and had a great time. In the middle of the date Matt asked me for another date before the first one was over with. I agreed. He told me that he was going to be deployed I said, “Deployed you must be in the Navy,”! So enjoying our conversation we went outside and stood by the car. Matt leaned over and kissed me.. I was a goner after that; I became lost in his arms for the rest of the night. He asked me to wait for him, I thought he was kidding until I looked up in his beautiful eyes and I saw his tender and humble side. I agreed to wait for him for two months.

So we agreed to meet the day after next and go out to eat. Matt met me in Chesapeake this time... We went and ate at Ruby Tuesday’s. We had a wonderful time and we knew in the back of our heads that this was a permanent relationship. I fell in love with Matt the first night... Matt left that Tuesday and the journey began for our relationship to prosper. We emailed each other almost every single day. Matt later on commented that he fell in love with me over email but couldn’t live without me when he got back.  Matt and I talked about, laughter; family, friends, and most importantly love. Matt continually to this day surprises me with unending laughter, positive attitude, generosity and most importantly the most incredible love I have ever known.. I thank God every minute and every day that Matt blessed me in his life I couldn’t have asked for a better friend, and future husband.. I love you Matt more than life itself!

It all started almost a year ago when I was home for Xmas leave. I had just got out of a some what relationship that didn't go anywhere. When I was home I went on my dad's computer and checked out Yahoo personals. It was there that I saw Mandy profile, I decided to say hi, but I was unable to do more than just sent a flirt because my account was disabled. I didn't think I would hear from her again. A couple of months later I noticed her profile again it was March I hadn't talk to her since the holidays. At the same time I got my account fixed and also got a new computer both which made it easier to talk to Mandy, funny how things happen. Well after talking online then on the phone we went on our first date it was April 1st and I didn't what to be the April fool, we hit it off real well that night and I felt good about it the only thing was that I was getting underway a couple of days later for 2 months. I thought to myself just when I find something good I leave and I'm back to square one because they either loose interest or decide to go there seperate ways, the story of my life. I new Mandy was different during the deployment, she wrote to me every day and couldn't wait to see me again, it was something I wasn't use to and new I had found the one, the one I prayed for and I new I would spend the rest of my life with. Since I have been back, I have never been happier in my life, I thank God every day that Mandy is in my life, I don't know what I would with out her. I love more than anything in the world. One last story, during the Summer Mandy came with me up to Massachusetts to visit my family, while we were up there I took her to her first Red Sox game at Fenway Park, the Red Sox were losing 4 to nothing to the Kansas City Royals a bad team, I was mad, I looked at Mandy and said jokingly "if they loose you won't be able to come back, espcially if they get shut out" not a minute later the Sox get a couple of hits they get a run across. Later in the Game the Sox are down 4-1, I'm still a little bumbed I look up for a second and said to myself " God give me a sign, If I am to be with this women for the rest of my life give me a sign" on the very next pitch Doug Merillie of the Sox hits a three run homer to tie the game. I look at Mandy give her a hug and a kiss and said to myself "Thankyou Lord now I know you brought Mandy into my life and spend life with her forever. Bye the way the Sox won 5-4, I told her she can come back. I will always tell our children about that day the day I knew that there mom was going to be my loving wife forever.
